Mr. Nils Ušakovs extended his warm welcome to H. E. Mr. Hu Yeshun for his appointment as Ambassador of China to Latvia, and briefed that Riga as the central city in the Baltic region, has her own features and advantages. The Riga City Council has been maintaining excellent working relations with the Chinese Embassy in Latvia and wishes that the mutual relations and cooperation will be further strengthened during the tenure of Ambassador Hu.

Ambassador Hu Yeshun expressed that he has deep and beautiful impressions on Riga since he came to work in the city three months ago. He has a very high opinion of the existing fruitful mutual cooperation and said that the Embassy of China in Latvia attaches great importance to the friendly relations and cooperation among the cities between the two countries, and will make continuous efforts to further promote the friendly exchanges in the fields of culture, economy and trade, and tourism between Riga with Suzhou, Beijing and some other Chinese cities, conduct win-win cooperation, and enhance the understanding and friendship between the two peoples of China and Latvia through the furtherance of the regional exchanges.
