H.E. Mr. Hu Yeshun and Madam Yan Liru Held Chinese New Year Reception

On 31st January 2011, H.E.Mr. Hu Yeshun, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Latvia and Ms. Yan Liru, Madam of the Ambassador held a grand reception to celebrate the Chinese New Year (Spring Festival), Year of Rabbit. H.E. Mr. Ojārs Ēriks Kalniņš, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament, H.E. Mr. Janis Urbanovics, Chairman of the group for inter-parliamentary relations with the People's Republic of China, H.E. Mr. Andris Rāviņš, Mayor of Jelgava and friends from all walks of life, Foreign Envoys accredited to Riga, overseas Chinese compatriots, representatives from the Chinese companies in Latvia etc., more than 120 people attended the reception.

   

Ambassador Hu first greeted all the Chinese compatriots in Latvia for the coming Spring Festival. He stated that the year 2010 has been marked by the successfully holding of Shanghai World Expo and the Asian Games in China. China's modernization has made gratifying progress. People's livelihood has been further improved. The comprehensive national strength of China has been strengthened. China's diplomacy in 2010 is also remarkable by the proper dealing with the challenges and stride ahead. It is worth mentioning that Sino-Latvian relations have made considerable progress in the passing year. Bilateral cooperation in political, economic, cultural and educational fields is quite fruitful. All of these results can not be achieved without the strong support of friends in Latvia, and dedication of Chinese compatriots, representatives from the Chinese companies and Chinese teachers in Latvia etc. Ambassador Hu expressed his heartfelt thanks to them. Ambassador Hu highlighted that the year 2011 marked the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Latvia. The bilateral relations are at a new historical point. China will continue to pursue an independent foreign policy of peace, are ready to work with all countries, including Latvia, to live in harmony and seek common development, to make its own contribution in solving common problems faced by humankind, to further expand all-round mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Latvia, thus to promote bilateral relations to a new level.

   

Friends from different fields expressed their congratulations to the hosts for China's achievements in 2010. The Chinese compatriots shared their happiness, confidence and hopes for the prosperity of the motherland, and wish more glories for the motherland in the Year of Rabbit. The reception hall has been decorated with Chinese traditional style ornaments, and filling with joyful and grandly warm atmosphere.
