H. E. Li Zhaoxing Paid a Visit to Latvia

       At the invitation of Hon. Ojars Kalnins, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia, H. E. Li Zhaoxing, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China head a delegation and paid a visit to Latvia from April 3 to 6, 2011. Hon. Gundars Daudze, Deputy Speaker of the Saeima, Hon. Artis Pabriks,Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and Hon. Girts Valdis Kristovskis, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia respectively met with H. E. Li Zhaoxing and his delegation. Hon. Ojars Kalnins and Hon. Janis Urbanovics, Chairman of Latvia and China Parliamentary Group respectively held talks with the Chinese delegation. H. E. Li Zhaoxing briefed the Latvian side on the situation of the economic and social developments of China and the relevant state of affairs of the 4th Session of the 11th National People's Congress and the 12th Five Year Plan. Both sides had a high opinion on the friendly cooperation of mutual benefit in the fields of politics, economy, culture, education and international affairs etc. in the past 20 years since the establishment of the diplomatic ties between China and Latvia, and exchanged views in-depth on the further strengthening of the mutual exchanges and cooperation between the two legislative bodies of China and Latvia.

The rest members of the delegation include Hon. Mr. Qi Xuchun, Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress and Vice President of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, and Ms. Yang Huizhu, Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress and Professor of Tsing Hua University etc. Ambassador Hu Yeshun participated the relevant visiting activities.
