Ambassador Hu Yeshun Attended the Opening Ceremony of the Invest Expo 2011 Latvia and the Exhibition of the Chinese Business Days

On May 6, 2011, the Opening Ceremony of the Invest Expo 2011 Latvia and the China Business Days were held in Riga, Latvia. Several scores of enterprises from Sheng Yang and Hu Lu Dao cities etc. of China attended the Expo. Hon. Artis Kampars, Minister for Economics, H. E. Mr. Hu Yeshun, Ambassador of China to Latvia, and Hon. Mr. Andris Ravins, Chairman of Jelgava City Council etc. graced and made remarks respectively on the occasion.

 

Hon. Artis Kampars, briefed on the situation of the export development and the relevant preferential policies of attracting investment of Latvia, emphasized that the Expo is of great importance for promoting Latvia's export growth to China, believed that this step is in the interests of both countries. He also wished that the Chinese companies will continuously participate the Expo in Latvia and looked forward to the active participations by more Chinese enterprises next year.

 
Ambassador Hu pointed out that although the economies of both China and Latvia have been negatively impacted by the international financial crisis, the bilateral trade volume may set a new record this year. He expressed that
, since its accession to the WTO in the year of 2001, China has entered a new stage of all-round opening up and created enormous opportunities for both domestic and foreign entrepreneurs. But China is still in the process of industrialization and urbanization, which will last for decades. China is also experiencing profound economic transformation, that is to turn China's economy into a green and low carbon and environment-friendly one. We need to have closer collaboration with outside world to accomplish this goal. Latvia is a reliable partner of cooperation. The Embassy of China in Latvia will continue to serve as a bridge for business cooperation between Latvia and China. He urged the enterprises of both countries to make use of the platform of the Expo to fully get to know each other's markets, and to seek cooperation from a long-term perspective. He wished that the discussions at the Expo by both sides will be fruitful and a success.

Ambassador Hu and Hon. Artis Kampars and some other officials also jointly attended the investment promotion forum after the Opening Ceremony and respectively answered the questions by the audience and the master of the ceremony.
