Mr. Gao Jian, Vice Governor of Development Bank of China Paid a visit to Latvia

  At the invitation of Hipoteka Bank, a state bank of the Republic of Latvia, Mr. Gao Jian, Vice Governor of China Development Bank (CDB) headed a delegation and paid a visit to Latvia from May 10 to 12, 2011. During the visit, Mr. Gao Jian held talks respectively with Hon. Andris Vilks, Minister of Finance, Mr. Rolands Panko, Chairman of the Board of Hipoteka Bank and Hon. Janis Urbanovics, Chairman of the Latvia and China Parliamentary Group of the Saeima of Latvia.
 
Mr. Gao Jian briefed the Latvian side on the macro economic situation of China and the state of affairs of CDB, pointed out that the focal areas of support by CDB are those projects of infrastructure and primary industries etc. CDB wishes to provide credit jointly with Hipoteka Bank to support the project constructions in Latvia through the assistance by the Latvian Government. The Latvian side briefed on the economic situation of Latvia and the state of affairs of the development of policy banks in Latvia, wished that both sides would seek means and ways for common development and carry out cooperation in the fields of banking, trade, energy and logistics etc. Both the Latvian and the Chinese sides shared experiences on the development of the policy banks, and exchanged views intensively of common concern including the bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Mr. Hu Yeshun, Ambassador of China in Latvia and Mr. Zhang Tingzhou, Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy attended the above-mentioned discussions.
