A Delegation of Chinese Writers Association Paid a Visit to Latvia

    From May 29 to 31, 2011, the delegation of Chinese Writers Association (CWA), led by Mr. Dan Zeng, Vice Chairman of CWA paid a visit to the Republic of Latvia. During the visit, Mr. Uldis Lielpeters, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia met with the delegation. The delegation also held discussions with the teachers and students of University of Latvia, respectively visited the Latvian Literature Center, Neputns Press, Ventspils Association for International Writers and Translaters, Wentspils Central Library and Scientific Center etc. Both sides carried out constructive discussions and exchanged views concerning conducting exchanges between the writers and the literature circles of both countries, and carrying out cooperation in the fields of translation and publishing etc. The two sides expressed that, with this visit as a turning point, they shall further enhance mutual exchanges, translate and publish more modern and contemporary literatures of both countries in Latvian and Chinese languages.

Mr. Hu Yeshun, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Latvia attended the relevant visiting programs and held a reception in honor of the visiting Chinese delegation and the Latvian writers, translators and educationalists. Both sides had friendly and in-depth exchanges of views on the occasion.

The rest members of the delegation includes Mr. Cao Wenxuan, Vice Chairman of Beijing Writers' Association, Mr. Qi Kaihong, President of Huili County's Federation of Literary and Art Circles in Sichuan Province, and Mr. Liu Xianping, General Director of the International Liaison Department of CWA and Translator.
