A Seminar on the Past and Present of the Silk Road was held in the Embassy of China in Latvia

On September 2, 2010, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Latvia oranized a seminar on the Past and Present of the Silk Road. Professor Ning Xin of Beijing Normal University made a key-note speech on the historical importance played by the Silk Road as a special bridge of communications of commerce and trade, cultural and artistic, ideas and traditions exchanges between then the East and the West. She also gave a brief introduction on the Maritime Silk Road emerged in the Song Dynasty (960-1279 AD). The members of the Embassy and the members of the visiting delegation from Beijing Normal University held in-depth discussions and exchanged views on the relevant issues.
