H.E. Mr. Huang Yong, Ambassador of China with Madam Held Reception of 66th Anniversary of the Founding of P. R. China and Assumption of Office

On September 29, 2015, H.E. Mr. Huang Yong, Ambassador of China to Latvia and Madam Tong Xiaoling, held a reception to celebrate the 66th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and assumption of office. Mr. Ojars Kalnins, Chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee of the Saeima, Mr. Sergejs Potapkins, Chairman of Latvia-China Friendship Group of the Saeima, Mr. Andrejs Pildegovics, State Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lt. General Raimonds Graube, Commander of Armed Forces of Latvia, Ambassadors accredited to Latvia, representatives from the business circles, media, education and culture of Latvia, and representatives of Chinese companies and Chinese compatriots etc. altogether 300 people attended the reception.

In his speech, Ambassador Huang briefed to audiences the just-concluded the first state visit to the United States and United Nations by H.E. Mr. Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China, pointed out that President Xi sent following clear messages to the public: 1, China will make joint effort with the United States, to build a new model of relationship of major powers. 2, China means to advance the international system towards a more justifiable and reasonable direction, welcomes all interested parties to join initiatives of “One Belt One Road” and the Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank. 3, China is committed to the post-2015 development agenda.

Ambassador Huang mentioned, on September the 3rd China held a solemn commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and World Anti-Fascist War in Beijing. The aim of our commemoration is to bear history in mind, honor all those who laid down their lives, cherish peace and open up the future. China will stick to a path of peaceful development.

Ambassador Huang stressed, the Chinese economy has entered a state of “new normal". Although facing difficulties and downward pressure, the performance of the Chinese economy is stable and moving in a positive direction, and is still within the reasonable range. The economy of China is not heading for a “hard landing”.

Ambassador Huang spoke highly of the good momentum of development of China-Latvia relations in recent years, saying that our leaders had close contacts, our pragmatic cooperation has made new progress, our people have deeper mutual understanding. He stressed that he has solid confidence in the potentials and prospects of China-Latvia relations, and wishes to work with the government and people of Latvia to further deepen and enhance the bilateral relationship.

The guests warmly welcomed the Ambassador and Madam, congratulated the National Day of China, and had a high opinion of the achievements of China after its course of Reform and Opening up. They praised the development of China Latvia relations in recent years, and expressed high expectations to wonderful prospects of China-Latvia pragmatic cooperation.
