Tang Songgen, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Latvia, presented the Letter of Credence to Latvian President Egils Levits on 22 June 2023.

    Ambassador Tang first conveyed greetings from President Xi Jinping to Latvian President and people, stated that since the establishment of China-Latvia diplomatic relations, political exchanges and economic cooperation between the two countries have achieved positive results, and the bilateral relations have developed steadily. Ambassador Tang emphasized that the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China chartered the course for promoting the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through the Chinese modernization, which will bring new opportunities to countries around the world, including Latvia. China appreciates Latvia's adherence to the one-China principle, and is willing to jointly promote bilateral friendly cooperation on the basis of mutual respect, mutual benefit and win-win results, so as to benefit the two countries and the two peoples.

    Ambassador Tang arrived in Riga, the capital of Latvia, on June 9 to assume his duties.
