China-Latvia Trade and Investment Promotion Briefing & Reception held in the Chinese Embassy

On September 6th, China-Latvia Trade and Investment Promotion Briefing & Reception was held in the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Latvia. Representatives from Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA), Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and Latvian and Chinese companies attended the event.

Chinese Ambassador to Latvia H.E. Mr. Tang Songgen, at the outset, briefed the participants of the updated data of China's economic development, opening-up policies and trade promotion measures, achievements in the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries. Amb. Tang quoted Chinese President H.E. Mr. Xi Jinping’s statement that Chinese economy is a sea, not a pond; it remain unchanged, including its enormous potential, strong resilience, and vast room for maneuver. Amb. Tang stressed that China firmly sticks to an opening-up strategy of mutual benefits and win-win cooperation, actively adopts measures to promote free trade and investment and to facilitate people-to-people exchanges. China stands ready to promote practical cooperation with Latvia for common prosperity. The Embassy is committed to working as a bridge between business sectors of the two countries.

In their remarks, representatives from LIAA and LCCI, taking China as a primary trade partner of Latvia, expressed readiness for jointly strengthening bilateral economic cooperation and trade. Representatives from BC-Connected, RILAK, GROGLASS and Nordichem Europe, shared their successful stories of cooperation with Chinese counterparts. Many participants commended China's economic achievements, and expressed their confidence and expectations for enhanced China-Latvia business cooperation.
