From September 20th to 21st, the Chinese Inner Mongolian Delegation of Intangible Cultural Heritage visited Latvia and successfully held performances in Lielā Ģilde, Riga and Latgales GORS, Rezekne, celebrating Chinese National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival. Thousands of audience, including representatives from Latvian government, Saeima, and Rezekne local government, and Latvian friends from various sectors, and local Chinese residents, enjoyed this visual and audio feast. Ms. Song Danhui, Minister-Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Latvia and Ms. Wang Nan, Director of the China Cultural Center in Riga, were invited to attend.

Origin of Chinese Inner Mongolia autonomous region can be traced back to the Ordos people who lived there 2,000 years ago. During the performances, programmes with Inner Mongolian features like “Tea Fragrance: Seeping China”, a song, “Meeting at Aobao”, a duet, and “Wild Geese”, a trio, and traditional cultural skills like embroidery, printmaking, and Tuvan throat singing, feasted the eyes and ears of audience and conveyed the common wishes for peace, unity, love, and prosperity of Chinese and Latvian peoples. Audience were surprised at richness and versatility of Chinese culture and the common cultural and spiritual elements between China and Latvia. After the performances, many Latvian friends expressed their expectation for more cultural exchanges and deepened friendship and cooperation between China and Latvia.
