From October 5th to 6th, H.E. Mr. Tang Songgen, Chinese Ambassador to Latvia, visited Daugavpils, the second largest city in Latvia, and met with Mr. Andrejs Elksniņš, Chairman of Daugavpils City Council and other officials of the municipality.

During the meeting, H.E. Amb. Tang appreciated the fruitful cooperation between Daugavpils and its Chinese twin city Harbin, pointing out that  sub-national cooperation in China-Latvia relations should rely on, be implemented in and benefit municipalities of the two countries. Chinese Embassy is ready to work with Daugavpils to further boost practical cooperation in different sectors.

Chairman Elksniņš extended warm welcome to H.E. Amb. Tang and his colleagues, and spoke highly of the Daugavpils-Harbin twin cities cooperation, mentioning that Daugavpils attaches great importance to exchanges and cooperation with Chinese municipalities and is willing to further develop these friendly relations and deepen practical cooperation in various fields.

During his stay in Daugavpils, H.E. Amb. Tang also visited Daugavpils University and met with teachers and students of Chinese language courses of the school. Besides, H.E. Amb. Tang visited Daugavpils Regional Hospital, Rothko Museum, and Daugavpils Fortress.
