On Jan 15, Zhang Qingwei, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), met with Ainārs Šlesers, head of the Latvian parliament's committee for promoting cooperation with China, in Beijing.

They exchanged views on deepening bilateral relations, practical cooperation and exchanges between the two legislative bodies.
