The 14th "Chinese Bridge" Competition Held in University of Latvia

  On April 25th and 26th, 2017, the 14th “Chinese Bridge” Competition in Latvia was successfully held in the University of Latvia. Including Professor Jānis Ikstens, Vice Rector of the University of Latvia, Professor Pēteris Pildegovičs and Professor Shang Quanyu, Directors of LUCI, Chinese teachers and representatives from press, universities and schools, more than 100 persons attended the competition. H.E. Ambassador Mr.Huang Yong attended the competition and gave a speech.

  Ambassador Huang Yong spoke highly of the important role of the thriving Chinese teaching in Latvia to promote China-Latvia relations and culture exchange, and expressed sincere thanks for the huge support of Latvian government and the great efforts of the sinologists and Chinese teachers in Latvia . Ambassador Huang pointed that, language is not only a tool for communicating but also a key to the door of the culture of the country. He encouraged all the contestants to play their full advantages and take the responsibility of being the disseminator and promoter to China-Latvia friendship through the language bridge.

  Professor Jānis Ikstens, said that “the Chinese Bridge” was a relaxing and interesting platform for learning Chinese language and culture, as well as a perfect channel for exercising professional talents in Chinese.

  According to the statistics, a total of 70 contestants participated in the competition, 25 of whom were in adult and university student’s group, 45 were in elementary and secondary school student’s groups. The contestants fiercely competed in four sections: self-introduction, themed public speaking, Q&A about Chinese knowledge and talent show.
